Police: Prostitute arrested after bringing baby to meeting

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Officers with Amherst Police and New York State Police charged a Tonawanda mother during a prostitution sting.

Authorities say Ciara Steffen, 25, advertised escort services on Backpage. After negotiating a fee to perform a sex act with an undercover officer, the two, along with Steffen’s baby, went to a hotel in Amherst, according to police.

Police say Steffen told the officer she would leave her 14-month-old child in the bathroom while engaging in the sex act.

Following a brief struggle, Steffen was taken into custody and Erie County Child Protective Services were notified, according to police.

Steffen was charged with prostitution, resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of a child.
