BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A resolution strongly supported by the public is heading to the desks of New York State lawmakers for consideration.

Erie County lawmakers passed the Mimosa Resolution on Thursday. The resolution, first submitted by Patrick Burke, seeks to allow bars to serve alcohol on Sunday as if it were any other day of the week. Presently, bars can’t sell alcohol before 12 p.m. on Sundays.

Now that the legislature has passed the resolution, it will fall to New York State Lawmakers for final say, as alcohol laws are governed by states.

In a poll, more than 600 of 700 people asked if they would support the resolution signaled they would approve of the change.
