Good Samaritans rescue man from Metro Rail tracks

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local man is recovering in the hospital after he rolled into the tracks of a Metro Rail station on Tuesday evening.

Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority officials say the man, who may have been under the influence of drugs, rolled into the tracks of Humboldt Station’s inbound area while sleeping. Two Good Samaritans who saw the man in the tracks rolled him to safety and waited for first responders to assist.

Medical personnel, who responded soon after the call at 6:50 p.m., rushed the man to the Erie County Medical Center for apparently minor injuries.

Police also responded to the scene and officials say charges are pending. NFTA Transit Police say an investigation is continuing into the incident. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
