ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed flags to be displayed at half-staff on Wednesday, December 23.
Flags are to be be flown in this way to honor a New York Air National Guard member who died in Afghanistan Monday.
NY Air National Guard Technical Sgt. Joseph Lemm was killed in an incident outside Bagram Air Base. Lemm was a member of the 105th Security Forces Squadron.
“Staff Sgt. Joe Lemm served this nation with the selflessness and bravery that embodies the U.S. Armed forces and the NYPD,” Governor Cuomo said. “On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, fellow officers and service members.”
