HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — Complaints filed to the Attorney General’s office worked in the favor of clients of Hush Day Spa in Hamburg.
Many former clients of the defunct spa were shocked to learn it had gone under in September with no notification to its customers, leaving those with gift certificates out of luck.
According to Eric T. Schneiderman, the spa had issued $40,000 in gift certificates at the time it went under, but failed to refund consumers before closing. After some customers reached out to News 4, many turned to the Attorney General for action.
First open in January of 2010, many people enjoyed Hush, located along Southwestern Boulevard, however owner Rachel Goodberry said it experienced a steady loss of business that forced her to close.
Hush issued gift certificates like vouchers in values between $10 and $330, and following Goodberry’s agreement with Schneiderman, Hush will refund those who submit complaints to the Attorney General by Feb. 5, 2016.
Anybody with a valid gift certificate can submit a complaint here, or by calling the Attorney General’s Buffalo office at (716) 853-8404.
