Erie County Sheriff’s Office investigating Clarence hit-and-run

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run accident in Clarence.

The Sheriff’s Office says a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Monday evening while walking along Shimerville Road between Main Street and Wehrle Street.

Authorities say the pedestrian suffered a non-life threatening upper body injury. The incident happened sometime in the 6 p.m. hour that night, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officials are looking for help finding the vehicle, which is described as a dark Ford truck, including models F-250, 350 and 450, with damage to its passenger side. Police say they have recovered a passenger side mirror from the damaged vehicle, identifying the part as a replacement mirror for a Ford Super Duty truck.

Police put out a warning to those who sell parts that the owner of the vehicle may attempt to replace the mirror with the same after-market part, as it has been previously replaced.

In partnership with Crimestoppers, officials are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anybody with information is asked to call police at (716) 867-6161. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
