Police: 5 arrested after Cattaraugus County home invasion

TOWN OF ALLEGANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police have arrested five Olean residents in relation to an alleged home invasion in the town of Allegany.

Logan Shearer, 20, and a 16-year-old boy are accused of forcing their way into an apartment on Castle Drive. Three others, Thomas Embs, 22, Todd Childs, 18, and a 17-year-old remained outside, according to State Police.

Authorities say a confrontation happened between Shearer, the 16-year-old and a resident. State Police say the resident suffered minor injuries and that the teenager had displayed a pocket knife.

The five defendants then left the scene but the 16-year-old returned later and was taken into custody, according to authorities.

Shearer and the 16-year-old were charged with felony burglary and committed to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Embs, Childs and the 17-year-old were charged with felony conspiracy and jailed on $5,000 bail.

State Police say the incident is under investigation.
