HOF Globetrotter passes away

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Here are some of the top trending stories for Monday, January 28th:

  • It was a very Star Wars Christmas weekend for fans all over the world. Now, “The Force Awakens” has broken another box office record. The movie officially hit the one billion dollar mark over the weekend, making it the fastest film ever to do so. And don’t expect things to slow down any time soon.
    The movie hasn’t even opened in China yet. That’s the second biggest movie market in the world.
  • Harlem Globetrotters fans are remembering one of the team’s greatest players this morning. Meadowlark Lemon’s wife announced last night the athlete passed away. Lemon played with the Globetrotters from 1954 to 1978, logging more than 16,000 games as the “Clown Prince.” He went on to become a minister, and appeared in acting roles on several hit shows. The basketball hall of famer was 83 years old.
  • Life looks pretty good for Steve Harvey a week after his mistake seen around the world. Last Sunday night, he accidentally announced the wrong contestant had won the Miss Universe pageant. A week later, he was able to laugh about it over a Christmas cigar by the pool. He posted a photo with the caption, “Merry Easter, ya’ll!”
