Free coffee available at Thruway service stations starting Thursday night

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York Thruway Authority says free coffee and hot tea will be served at all service stations Thursday night into Friday as part of a 45-year tradition.

The complimentary drinks will be available from 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 7 a.m. the next day to promote safe, alert driving.

“Thruway’s New Year’s Eve tradition is an excellent way to encourage motorists to take a break during their travels and to promote safe driving during the busy holiday season,” said Thruway Authority Executive Director Robert L. Megna. “It is crucial that motorists stay alert and drive safely not only during the holidays, but year round.”

There are 27 service stations on the Thruway. Find them all here.
