Man killed in overnight N. Tonawanda fire

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — An apartment fire on Belling Place in North Tonawanda left one person dead Wednesday night.

The fire started around 6:20 p.m. that night. A passer-by had noticed flames and subsequently contacted police.

The victim, Reid Bracken, was taken from the structure and was later pronounced dead at GeGraff Hospital. He was the sole occupant of the home. No one else was injured during the incident.

Firefighters are trying to figure out how the blaze, which caused $50,000 in damage, started. It has been ruled as accidental and officials also say the use of a kitchen stove or other electrical equipment could not be ruled out as a cause.
