$5 million from Buffalo Billion prepared for arrival of Genesee County solar plant

TOWN OF ALABAMA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A portion of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion program will be used toward a new solar energy plant coming to the Genesee County town of Alabama.

$5 million from the program was released by the state this past week. It will be used toward the new 1366 Technologies plant at the Western New York Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park.

1366 Technologies is based in Massachusetts.

$700 million is being invested by 1366 Technologies to create and maintain the silicon wafer manufacturing facility. 1,000 jobs are expected to be created through the plant.
