NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A group of teens reportedly tried to escape a juvenile facility in Donelson, Tennessee on New Year’s Eve.
It happened at the G4S Academy for Young Women on Stewarts Ferry Pike around 11:00 a.m.
Police told Media General Contributors a group of teenage girls became upset after they were told they would not be allowed to watch the New Year’s Eve celebrations on television.
They reportedly became disorderly and began breaking things before attempting to escape the facility.
Only one young woman made it over the interior fence and a number of teens got outside the building. None were able to breach the perimeter fences.
Metro police along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were called to the facility to assist staff with the escape attempt.
The situation was resolved within 30 minutes.
G4S is a privatized juvenile justice program for teens who require treatment for mental health and substance abuse, among other issues. It is a “staff-secure” facility, but not hardware secure, according to their website.
