BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local man is wanted for questioning after a deadly shooting in North Tonawanda.
Police were on the hunt Monday for Dominic Cruz, 39, just a day after a morning shooting in North Tonawanda. The attack left 27-year-old Mark Sternin dead and injured 24-year-old Tyler Sadauskaus, who remains in critical condition in the Erie County Medical Center.
Officers responded to Manhattan and Tremont in North Tonawanda where they located Sternin and Sadauskaus with a single gunshot wound each.
Investigation immediately followed, and police said they were on the hunt for three suspects. On Monday morning, their hunt took them to Cruz’s place of employment at Speed Global Services.
North Tonawanda Police say when they approached Cruz at work, he fled the scene.
The subsequent chase forced police to search Speed Global Services and lock out two nearby charter school buildings.
The elementary school and high school buildings of Charter School for Applied Technologies on Kenmore Avenue both went into lock-out mode for a time on Monday as police utilized helicopters, SWAT teams and more to attempt to locate Cruz.
Now officers are turning to the public for help, but are warning the public not to approach Cruz. Anybody with information on Cruz’s whereabouts is asked to call police immediately at (716) 692-4312. Police say he may be in a white Impala with a black roof and black gas cap with the license plate FTZ-4311.
