CSAT reopens after authorities search for criminal suspect in area

Police respond to the area of a charter school in the hunt for a wanted person.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The elementary school and high school buildings of Charter School for Applied Technologies on Kenmore Avenue were placed on lockout Monday morning.

North Tonawanda Police told Town of Tonawanda Police that they were looking for a criminal suspect believed to be in the area near the school.

Buildings neighboring CSAT were searched by SWAT teams. Buffalo Police and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter were involved in the search as well.

In a lockout situation, no one can enter or leave the school under any circumstances, but classes are able to continue.

The school was reopened early Monday afternoon after police called off a search at Speed Global Services.

News 4 is working to figure out if the suspect is connected with a fatal early Sunday morning shooting in North Tonawanda.
