AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo woman is facing a litany of charges after police say they attempted to stop her in Amherst, but she fled onto the Audubon Parkway.
Officers say they responded at 2:53 p.m. to Maple Road near the Audubon on hearing reports of a fight, but upon arrival, officers saw people running towards a vehicle. Police attempted to flag the vehicle down, but say the driver accelerated, initiating a high speed chase.
Multiple Amherst Police vehicles were involved in the chase, but the chase continued until the driver spun out, striking a guardrail. After regaining control of the vehicle, the driver sped onto the Audubon where the car finally stopped near exit three.
Police immediately arrested Mariana Virginia, charging her with reckless driving, second degree reckless endangerment, third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Officials cleared the crash scene just before 3:30 p.m., when traffic on the Audubon returned to normal.
