BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Anyone out there miss the 90s? Ever want to go back?
Now, you have the chance — in the city’s first ward.
Queen City Escape Room was among the first of its kind when it opened in the fall at the old Buffalo Mercantile Building on Louisiana Street. Now, it’s one of five located across WNY.
The 90s are everywhere in Queen City Escape Room. But so are the riddles and puzzles. And so many locks.
“You have to work your way through the room,” said co-owner Dominic Luongo. “You gotta be clever. You gotta use your wits because there’s a lot of stuff that needs to be pieced together.
“Use your ingenuity, use your wits, use your problem solving skills, don’t be afraid to explore, take stuff off the walls, and start piecing things together or you might not get out.”
Players are able to basically ransack the place (within reason) to find clues. There’s no order, just an end goal: Players have one hour to get out.
The game is highly interactive. And players can ask for help.(I needed it.)
But beyond just the goal of opening the door to 2016, Luongo said escape rooms have a larger purpose.
“You learn more about a person from an hour of play that year of conversation,” he said. “And that’s what you get from creating something like this and building it and working on it and also coming in and doing the room, because it is an hour of play.”
