Tennessee couple claims to have winning Powerball ticket

NEW YORK (WCMH) — A couple who claims to own one of the winning Powerball tickets appeared on live television for an exclusive in-studio interview.

The couple is speaking out even before they present the ticket to lottery officials.

The ticket was purchased by John and Lisa Robinson, while John was on his way home from work. He says he bought four quick pick single tickets around 7 p.m. on the night of the drawing.

Lisa Robinson said her husband was asleep when the numbers were called. Once she realized their numbers matched, she ran over to where he was asleep on the couch and told John Robinson to check the numbers himself.

“She said check these numbers, and I said ‘okay.’ I looked at them I said yeah, they look like they’re the numbers. So, I checked them actually four times and I said I’ll believe it when the news comes on in the morning and they say ‘hey, there’s been a winner in Munford,’” said John Robinson.

They say they want to be private people after the lottery frenzy is over.

The purported winning ticket has not yet been verified by the Tennessee Lottery.
