Scholar Athlete: Dylan McDonald

The St. Francis senior is a vocal leader in more ways than one

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — St. Francis senior Dylan McDonald is our latest News 4 Scholar Athlete, and perhaps the one with the best singing voice.

Dylan is a goalie for the St. Francis Federation League hockey team, maintains a 4.0 GPA — and sings in the school’s elite male choir.

“I think there’s only twelve of us, so it’s very focused on us,” says McDonald. “You can’t mess up, you can’t be covered up by anyone else in the group.”

McDonald was voted 2nd team all-league last season as a goaltender, with the lowest goals allowed average per game.

“I wish everyone was like Dylan,” says Paul Jackson, his hockey coach. “He’s very coachable. Very good hockey player, and that’s why we made him an assistant captain this year.”

Dylan also volunteers at the Aurora Ice Association and with Franciscan Youth Ministry.
