Puppy ejected from vehicle during alcohol-related crash

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Hamburg man was arrested for DWI when police found him searching for his puppy after a crash.

Police say 50-year-old Douglas Coble lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into a snowbank while travelling on Route 219. Coble continued driving before returning to the scene to look for his German Shepherd puppy that had been ejected from the truck.

State police found Coble and determined that he had a BAC of .11%. Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies assisting at the scene found his injured puppy nearby. The dog was transported to the Springville animal hospital and treated for a large cut on its front leg.

Coble is due in Concord Town Court sometime next month.
