COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A small and popular doughnut shop in town is preparing in a big way as the Denver Broncos prepare to take on the New England Patriots in tomorrow’s bid for the Super Bowl.
“We’re big football fans here at Amy’s Donuts and definitely Denver Broncos fans,” said shop owner Chin Kim.
As dedicated fans, it was only fitting to make the “Bronco Berry.”
“We did a blueberry doughnut with orange frosting,” said Kim.
If that doesn’t suit your appetite, perhaps the alternate doughnut will.
“The week they played the Steelers, they busted out the orange and blue so we had to do the orange, blue and white doughnut as well,” said Kim.
Come game day, Chin says that these doughnuts are a guaranteed sell out which makes preparation key.
“It’s tough because they’ve got to be decorated pretty and they’ve got to be decorated with care and with speed because there is a line out the door always here,” said Kim.
So it begs the obvious question. If the Broncos get a Super Bowl bid, will there be a special Broncos Super Bowl doughnut?
“If they make it to the Super Bowl, who knows,” said Kim. “The whole Amy’s Donut crew packs the car full of these Bronco Berries and we got to feed the whole team.”
