BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — As the winter winds on, officials at the Buffalo Zoo are working to keep the winter fun rolling.

The price of admission will drop in February to just $5 per person, naming the month “Polar Bear Days” in a tip of the hat to International Polar Bear Day, which is recognized on Feb. 27.

The push isn’t just a move for fun, it’s also a campaign for awareness on climate change, as the zoo will ask western New York to reduce emissions by lowering the thermostat as winter months wind down.

Officials say the goal is to preserve the natural habitat of polar bears in the wild.

First Niagara Bank is partnering with the Buffalo Zoo to make the affordable month available to everybody.
