BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)-

WHAT A DIFFERENCE ONE YEAR MAKES. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE 2016 SEASON, THE BILLS ACTUALLY HAVE A CLEAR CUT STARTING QUARTERBACK. WHICH IS SOMETHING THEY COULDN’T SAY LAST YEAR WHEN TYROD TAYLOR HAD TO BEAT OUT EJ MANUEL AND MATT CASSEL FOR THE STARTING JOB. WHEN TYROD WON THE JOB HE NEVER LOOKED BACK…. POSTING SOLID NUMBERS IN HIS 1ST SEASON AS A STARTER. TYROD TOSSED 20 TOUCHDOWNS AND JUST 6 INTERCEPTIONS. IN FACT, HE WAS SO GOOD THE BILLS MANAGEMENT HAVE A DIFFERENT QUARTERBACK QUESTION THIS OFFSEASON. SHOULD THEY GIVE TYROD A LARGE CONTRACT EXTENSION? CAN THE BILLS AFFORD TO GIVE TYROD A BIG PAYDAY AFTER JUST ONE GOOD SEASON? IF THEY DON’T AND HE HAS AN EVEN BETTER 2016 SEASON HE COULD END UP ELSEWHERE AND THE BILLS WOULD END UP BACK AT SQUARE ONE… SEARCHING FOR A QUARTERBACK. FOR NOW, TYROD IS LOCKED IN FOR 2016 AND AT LEAST FANS KNOW THEY HAVE A CAPABLE QUARTERBACK WHEN CAMP ROLLS AROUND. BEYOND TYROD IS WHERE THINGS GET MURKY. I WOULD BE SHOCKED TO SEE EJ MANUEL BACK IN BUFFALO NEXT YEAR. EJ WENT FROM CLIPBOARD TO QUARTERBACK WHEN TYROD GOT INJURED AND LETS JUST SAY, THINGS DID NOT GO WELL, IN THE UNITED STATES OR IN LONDON. AT THIS POINT, IT’S BEST FOR THE TEAM AND FOR EJ TO MOVE ON. A FRESH START SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY SOLUTION.
