BPD arrests woman for allegedly setting fatal October 2015 fire on Curtiss St.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Homicide detectives were on the scene of a fatal fire in October of 2015, but the fruits of their labor were only made public Monday in 2016.

Police confirmed they arrested a suspect in connection with the fire, which killed two people on Curtiss Street on Saturday, Oct. 10. Several people escaped the building as it burned, but 58-year-old Edward Hughes and 64-year-old James Hodges perished during the blaze.

Officers say they are charging 40-year-old Al-Shariyfa Robinson, a 40-year-old Buffalo woman, with two counts of second degree murder and second degree arson.

The building was slated for demolition, and the investigation has been ongoing. The fire has since been ruled an arson.
