Building owner says space heater may have caused Niagara County fire

CAMBRIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A barn that also acted as a garage in Niagara County was destroyed after a fire early Monday morning.

A neighbor in the Town of Cambria reported the Baer Road fire around 3 a.m. Pekin and Sanborn Fire companies were able to extinguish the fire, but the building and its contents were a total loss.

The owner of the building says a space heater provided heat to seven chickens there and could have been the cause of the fire.

The official cause remains under investigation by Niagara County Cause and Origin.
