Former teacher arrested, accused of sexting students

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Kayla Lynn Hodges was arrested Monday and charged with four counts of having sexual contact with a student.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, Hodges is accused of sending “sexual photos and text messages to four high school students while employed with the Etowah County Board of Education.”

Etowah County Superintendent Alan Cosby said in a statement, “Mrs. Hodges resignation was accepted by the Etowah County Board of Education on January 7, 2016. After her resignation was accepted these allegations came to light.  We then contacted local law enforcement to report the information we had at the time and are fully cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office in this case.”

(Etowah County, Alabama) An Anniston woman has been arrested for being sexually involved with high school students, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Kayla Lynn Hodges, 31, of Anniston, was arrested today and is charged with four counts of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19, which is a misdemeanor,” investigator VaShaunda Ragland said.

Hodges allegedly sent sexual photos and text messages to four high school students while employed with the Etowah County Board of Education (ECBOE) as a teacher.    

Etowah County Superintendent Alan Cosby said, “Mrs. Hodges resignation was accepted by the Etowah County Board of Education on January 7, 2016. After her resignation was accepted these allegations came to light.  We then contacted local law enforcement to report the information we had at the time and are fully cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office in this case.”   

“This type of ridiculous behavior is completely uncalled for by someone who was trusted by the community to teach our kids,” Sheriff Entrekin said. 

Hodges was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on $5,000 property bond.  As a condition of her bond Hodges is to report to Community Corrections, have no unsupervised contact with a minor and should not participate in any online social media applications.
