Salad recalled due to potential allergen contamination

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A batch of chopped romaine salad has been recalled due to a potential allergen contamination.

The salad, which was distributed by Fresh Express with a use-by date of Feb. 19, was distributed it to 15 states, including New York. The salad will have a product code of G034A06A.

Company officials say a potential exposure of the salad to undeclared allergens prompted the immediate recall, and officials say the product is already being pulled off shelves.

The recall is out of an abundance of caution, officials say, and there have been no illnesses reported. Consumers who purchased the salad are asked to throw it away and seek a refund.

Anybody who purchased the salad can seek a refund by calling the Fresh Express line at (800) 242-5472 during regular business hours.
