BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Two people are under arrest after a bank robbery in North Buffalo.
It happened at the Summit Federal Credit Union on Delaware near Hertel at 3:41pm Monday afternoon.
Carlson Mancinelli happened to be walking by as the suspect made a getaway. “Someone was running and then there was someone behind him running after him yelling stop and he had he was yelling ‘Stop, I’ll shoot!”
Carlson says he saw the suspect get into one car with a woman but they could get away. “He would repeatedly say that he had a bomb, he had a bomb. That was , I guess, his threat. Then he went from car to car trying to get in everyone’s car and trying to make a getaway anyway he could. I saw him go into one girl’s car. She got her window up quick enough. It was not something I’m used to seeing.”
The suspect found a car to get away in and headed south. Buffalo Police picked up on his trail as he turned into the parking lot of the Shoreline Apartments on Niagara Street near downtown.
Chris Halley was working at the Shoreline Apartments. “I wasn’t sure what to think. I was kind of amazed just to see everywhere I look there was police pulling in.”
Surveillance video from the parking lot shows a car pull into the lot. A man runs out of the car with a big black bag, and Police chase him on foot. “It was a massive police presence and I went outside and within thirty seconds they were coming out of the building with someone in custody.”
At first, Halley wasn’t sure what the man was arrested for until he saw police picking up a trail of money that the suspect dropped. “And then I heard over the radio saying they also found the note he used, so I just kind of assumed.”
Buffalo Police took a man and a woman into custody, but as of late Monday night, they have not been charged yet. Their names have not been released.
