Ohio radio host resigns after making comments about Bills’ hiring of Kathryn Smith

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WIVB) — A Cleveland radio host known in western New York for remarks he made on-air about Bills assistant coach Kathryn Smith, has resigned.

Kevin Kiley, one of two hosts of “Kiley & Carman,” a morning show on 92.3 The Fan, showed his disdain for the Bills’ hiring of the NFL’s first-ever full-time female coach on-air.

His comments included statements like this:

“We’ve been through this a thousand times — no place for a woman in professional sports, in football, coaching men. Men will not take to it. If you have 10 men on special teams, eight of them will be mumbling under their breath, ‘It’s counterproductive, you’re setting her up to fail.’ It’s not her fault. It’s the idiot that hired her.”

Kiley’s comments drew fire from listeners. He later appeared on CBS’ “Sports Extra,” in Cleveland where he denounced censorship and said that he would be leaving the station at the end of the month.
