PERRY, N.Y. (WIVB) — An enlightening day in Village of Warsaw Court brought to light new details in a frightening murder case in Perry, New York.
Authorities have been investigating a Perry woman’s death inside her home on Borden Avenue after finding her with multiple stab wounds across her body, including her pelvic area. Police arrested and accused Kira Kastenhuber, 38, on charges of killing 33-year-old Desirae Withey soon after.
Police located Kastenhuber after the attack while responding to a potential overdose call, and while in her home, they say she pointed officers towards a confession note.
In the note, officers testified Kastenhuber admitted to strangling Withey then stabbing her in the woman’s bedroom.
According to officers, the note read, “This is my confession. I did it. I did it all. No other help involved. I became enraged and I could not control myself.”
They revealed in testimony thereafter that one of Withey’s two children located their mother dead, and ran to a neighbor’s home for help.
Police located Kastenhuber a day later in her home after she reportedly took pills in an attempt to overdose.
Kastenhuber is currently behind bars without bail as the trial proceeds. A grand jury will hear the case in just over a month.
