21 North Carolina couples renew their marriage vows on Valentine’s Day

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — On Sunday – Valentine’s Day – nearly two dozen married couples renewed their vows at a North Carolina church.

The couples, who have been married between 2 and 60 years – renewed the vows in a special ceremony at New Life Church in Wake Forest.

Ron Brissom, the lead pastor of the church, helped organize the special ceremony.

“Realizing that people love a feel-good story, and that a positive story such as this would be very timely on Valentine’s Day,” Brisson said.

Of the 21 couples who participated, one has been married for 61 years.

J.E. Brissom and Linnette Brissom were possibly the longest married couple at the special ceremony.

“It is a long time but been a very, very short time and I think the most important thing about it is determination — you have to determine from the beginning that you’re going to make it and talking about not making it that was no option,” J.E. Brissom said.
