Local dog to compete in Westminster Dog Show

NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local man and his best friend are set to compete in the Westminster Dog Show to prove he’s the best of his breed.

Brian White, 40, will head to Madison Square Garden for the Westminster Dog Show  on Monday, and will compete on Tuesday. His trusted companion is a 5-year-old Wirehaired Vizsla named Ryder.

White says Ryder is a grand champion and is the second ranked dog for Wirehaired Vizsla dogs in the nation currently, but his true love rests in his duty as a therapy dog.

Ryder’s sensitivity to emotions may give him an edge in the competition when he takes the stage at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

News 4 will update the story once he competes.
