BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local doctor who was born on a leap year four decades ago celebrated her 11th true birthday on Monday, and she spent it bringing another Leapling into the world.
Lynn Marie Aronica, 44, said she spent her birthday — which she wasn’t originally scheduled to work — to bring a special child into the world. She helped a local mother deliver a little girl named Ella at 5:15 a.m., .
“Every four years on this day I get to do something special and today that was to deliver Ella,” Aronica said.
Aronica and Ella now share that leap year bond, but new mother Rebecca Taboni said that’s not the only bond her newborn shares.
“She entered the world at 5:15 a.m. this morning, which means the world to me because it’s the day of my mother’s birthday,” Taboni said.
Officials say the odds of giving birth to a leap year baby are one in 1,461, so each leap year child is a rare gift.
