Man arrested in drive-thru after drifting in, out of consciousness with child in the car

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Friday on child endangerment charges, after a police affidavit claimed he was found coming in and out of consciousness in a Taco Bell drive-thru with his child in the car.

The affidavit says police responded to the Taco Bell near Murfreesboro Pike and Dover Glen in Tennessee, where they found Kevin Furness drifting in and out of consciousness behind the wheel of his car. Medics reportedly saw track marks on his arm, typically associated with heroin use.

When authorities arrived, Furness’ five-year-old daughter reportedly told medics her father had hit the sidewalk, referencing the car’s flat tire.

The child’s grandmother was called to pick her up.

The affidavit goes on to say that medics took Furness to Southern Hills Medical Center, where he gave a blood sample for testing.

Once he was medically cleared, authorities took Furness in to custody for booking. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
