FARMERSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Over 600 animals on a Cattaraugus County farm continue to fall under the care of the Cattaraugus County SPCA and the owners of the animals are facing a list of charges.
Last week a raid led to the seizure of multiple dogs, and the direct need for help from the community as hundreds of farm animals required food and clean lodging. The investigation into Donald and Bonnie George, the owners of the animals, led to immediate charges for not providing proper care for their dogs.
Continuing investigation led officials to file more charges, totaling eight charges against both Donald and Bonnie George. Officials say new charges will likely be filed, too, as there are new charges pending word from veterinarians on the scene.
Vets originally responded to the farm in Farmersville where hundreds of animals, from horses to chickens, dogs and more, were living in terrible condition. They put out a call for help from the community, and officials say the community responded in kind.
Volunteers have pitched in to help clean up the farm, and food donations have poured in to help feed more than 600 animals, some of which were sick.
Donations will continue to be accepted. Anybody looking to make a donation can contact the Cattaraugus County SPCA at (716) 372-8492.
