Officer administers Narcan to save woman overdosing at courthouse

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman in Cheektowaga was rescued at the hands of police Wednesday as she overdosed at the Cheektowaga Court building.

Nearby bystanders noticed a woman slumped over in her vehicle on Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the court building and sought nearby police officers for help.

Police in Cheektowaga are all trained to administer Narcan, a life-saving drug that can offset overdoses. An officer sprung into action, giving the woman a dose of the drug to stop her overdose.

Medical professionals who responded to the scene gave the woman an additional dose of Narcan to reverse the overdose entirely.

Officers say the woman was at court to pay a traffic ticket. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
