Williamsville teen charged with manslaughter following infant son’s death

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Williamsville teen has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter following the October death of his two-month-old son.

Authorities believe the child died from shaken baby syndrome after he was rushed to Women and Children’s Hospital from Cheektowaga back in October.

When police initially responded to the scene, they say the father brought the boy to the first floor of their Meadow Place apartment. The infant’s face was reportedly blue and authorities say he wasn’t breathing.

The baby died just days after he was admitted to the facility.

The child’s father, Michael Fiorentino, 17, pleaded not guilty to killing the infant during a court appearance.

Cheektowaga Police say Fiorentino voluntarily returned from Texas to surrender himself. He was 16 at the time of the baby’s death.

Fiorentino was committed to the Erie County Holding Center on $50,000 bail.
