Monument destroyed at Isle View Park

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB)- A man attempting to commit suicide destroyed a monument honoring people affected by domestic violence in Isle View Park.

Officials tell News 4 the man drove down an embankment, onto a paved path and hit the tribute garden.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says the man was trying to drive into the river, then he left his car and jumped into the river. He was rescued and taken to ECMC for treatment.

Poloncarz says the county will fix the memorial.
