Arrest made after two banks robbed in short succession

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police in the City of Buffalo were busy with bank robberies on Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to two bank robberies in close proximity on Elmwood Avenue near West Utica before 3:30 p.m. A First Niagara Bank was the first target, and within ten minutes a suspect hit a Bank of America branch, but fled empty handed.

The suspect reportedly handed a note off to a teller demanding money, and did not brandish a weapon at either robbery.

Soon after, police say they arrested 42-year-old Robert Stanley was arrested on the 200 block of Richmond Avenue. Police say he faces charges of robbery and attempted robbery charges, along with larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
