Gus Macker’s 25th tournament announced for June in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — The popular Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament will officially be held on Grand Island for the second year ever in June.

The group’s officials announced the basketball tournament’s 25th iteration will be held on June 4 and June 5, with a standard tournament and three other events open to the public.

Those interested in signing up for teams can do so here, but those who don’t sign up and just want to watch can play other games like the free throw contest, three-point shoot-out and a “Little Gus” shot clock event.

Registration is open to the first 350 teams and closes on May 23. The cost is $140 per team.

The group had issues in locating a permanent new home last year, but Grand Island officials ultimately opened their arms to the tournament, which draws thousands each year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
