Power failure temporarily leaves some without water pressure in southtowns

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — People in Hamburg, Orchard Park and Evans should have running water again this morning. They lost it for a while Tuesday after a power failure temporarily shut down part of the facility, according to the Erie County Water Authority

Workers have since restored power to the Sturgeon Point Water Treatment Plant.

Some people had low water pressure, or none at all when the plant was initially down to just one operating pump, according to officials.

Officials say the power failure is likely due to a power surge from National Grid.
