Third person behind brutal stabbing in Buffalo sentenced

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A third man who helped kill and dispose of a local man’s body in Buffalo has been sentenced for his involvement in the crime.

Authorities announced Mahalia Guest, the last of a group of three men including Juakeen Glenn and Kenneth Smith, to receive sentencing for helping kill and dispose of 58-year-old Rafael Martinez’s body.

The November 2014 murder has taken over a year to prosecute, but will see those responsible behind bars for decades. A judge sentenced Guest Thursday to 17 and a half years in prison with five years of post release after he pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.

Smith, who pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter, was sentenced just over a week ago to 23 years in prison. Glenn, who also pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter, also was sentenced to 23 years in prison with five years of post release supervision.
