Wyoming County inmate receiving medical treatment briefly escapes custody

WARSAW, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate receiving medical treatment at a western New York hospital briefly escaped custody.

Officials say 33-year-old Brad Rovito was at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw on Wednesday afternoon when he took off. Warsaw police officers were able to take him into custody minutes later.

Rovito is an inmate at the medium-security Wyoming Correctional Facility. He now faces escape and resisting arrest charges. He’ll also be transferred to the nearby Attica Correctional Facility.

Rovito is serving time on assault and drug charges.
