Two hurt in shooting near Canisius College

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two people are hurt in a shooting near Canisius College Saturday night.

Buffalo Police received a call after just 11 p.m., reporting shots fired.

More than a dozen shell casing littered the street and more than twenty police responded to the scene on Glendale Avenue.

A man living along the street tells us people in his house were having a party, expecting it to be a small gathering, when dozens of people showed up.

“People who weren’t supposed to be here were here and people were mad,” said Demeatrius Devost who tells us he was outside when the shots were fired.

Detectives are now looking to see if some type of fight broke out during the party.

Devost said, “I was in the inside, and I heard the gunshots, go off, but I didn’t think it was going to get that far carried away like that”

The shooting happened just down the street from a Canisius College building, but school leaders tell us the don’t own the home and none of their students live inside it either.

Both victims were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment. Marlon Clay, 20, from Buffalo, is in fair condition. Ashley Kern, 17, from Cheektowaga is in serious condition at ECMC.
