Sheriff: Allegany County inmate tries to smuggle heroin in sock

BELMONT, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office says a County Jail inmate tried to smuggle in heroin in his sock.

Jeremiah Edwards, 24, was charged with promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a controlled substance after authorities say they found six bags of heroin on him during a routine search.

Edwards was arrested without any issues and remanded back to the jail on $2,500 bail.
