Inmate convicted of assaulting, injuring corrections officers

ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 51-year-old man serving time in the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden will spend more time behind bars after being found guilty of assaulting corrections officers.

Officials say Elijah Bell, who is serving 12-years-to-life for second-degree assault after stabbing a New York City subway passenger, assaulted corrections officers in Alden with a homemade shank.

Bell eventually injured two officers before they subdued him, charging him with two counts of second-degree assault and first-degree promoting prison contraband.

As Bell is currently in prison, he faces a maximum extension of seven years behind bars when he is sentenced. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
