Truck crashes into church on Goodell Street

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A truck drove into a church on Goodell Street Tuesday morning, closing the road temporarily from Michigan Ave. to Oak Street.

Police confirmed witness accounts, saying a dump truck driver drove the wrong way down Goodell and collided with a pickup truck soon after. After the crash, the driver steered into a fire hydrant, then into a church at 145 Goodell Street.

The driver, identified as a 56-year-old Lancaster man, was ticketed for driving the wrong way down a one-way street. He sustained injuries that were treated at the Erie County Medical Center before he was released.

Officers say the church sustained extensive damage.
