BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A New York man who stood trial and was found guilty by a jury of his own peers will spend life behind bars for transporting minors to sexually abuse them.
Prosecutors in Buffalo say David Allen Vickers, 51, gained trust with the families of at lest two victims, eventually gaining court appointed custody of the children. A jury found him guilty of sexually abusing those minors and transporting them across both state and international borders.
Officials say he transported the children to Canada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania while repeatedly abusing and molesting them while delivering them for others to abuse between 1999 and 2007.
Eventually, police uncovered his crimes and he stood trial in Buffalo. Following sentencing in federal court in Buffalo, a U.S. District Judge Richard Arcara sentenced him to life in prison.
U.S. Attorney William Hochul called the decision appropriate, noting it was a victory for the victims.
Hochul said in a release, “The harm inflicted upon the victims in this case by the defendant continues to impact those victims to this day.”
