New York tacks on nearly 20,000 jobs in February, reaching record high

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Jobs in the private sector in New York State are on the rise and officials say it’s hit a record high.

In February of 2016, a record 18,700 jobs were created in the private sector, adding up to 7,884,000 jobs in New York State’s private sector — a new record.

Unemployment dropped a tick in February as well, dropping from 4.9 percent in January to 4.8 percent in February, edging out the national unemployment rate.
