BROCTON, N.Y. (WIVB) — A meth bust in Chautauqua County Thursday led police to jail three locals on serious drug charges.
Officers say they began learning about noxious fumes coming from an apartment on West Main Street, causing other residents in the building to have breathing problems. Police who responded late Wednesday night were on the scene into Thursday morning when they say signs of drug production were obvious.
Simple interviews uncovered multiple suspicious items inside the apartment, and eventually police concluded the residents of the apartment were operating a meth lab. Investigation uncovered quantities of meth produced with the “one pot” style of production, which officers say is exceedingly toxic.
Specialists were called to the scene to remove the toxic chemicals from the apartment, at what time those specialists located 10 different labs in the apartment, and another thrown out just outside the apartment.
Police immediately arrested 25-year-old Ashley Muscato, 24-year-old Neale Brown and 21-year-old Ashley Guest. They each face charges of third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Each was jailed following arraignment on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 property bond.
