Jeep dangles from tree after flipping off Alabama bridge

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (MEDIA GENERAL/WRBL) — A crash Tuesday in Phenix City, Alabama, caused a Jeep to flip from a bridge and get stuck upside down in a tree.

The driver was taken from the riverbank below on a stretcher. It wasn’t immediately clear how he got to the riverbank. Witnesses reported he may have fallen out of the vehicle.

His injuries were described as “significant and severe.”

Phenix City and Columbus fire crews trimmed the tree to free the Jeep and then used a crane to lift the vehicle back up onto the bridge. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
